About
Fiji is an image processing package, a "batteries-included" distribution of ImageJ that bundles many plugins to facilitate scientific image analysis. It is designed to be easy to install and use: it installs all of its plugins in one click, includes an automatic updater, and offers comprehensive documentation. Fiji also manages the dependencies and updates of the popular ImageJ plugins it bundles, and it provides thousands of plugins for scientific image processing and analysis.
Fiji is free and open source, hosted on GitHub and developed by a community of contributors around the world. It is maintained by the Eliceiri/LOCI group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Jug group at Human Technopole in Milan, and the Tomancak lab at the MPI-CBG in Dresden. Contributions of plugins, patches, bug reports, tutorials, documentation, and artwork are welcome. Fiji is licensed under the GNU General Public License and builds on the ImageJ2 core, which is licensed under the BSD 2-clause license.
The project asks users who rely on Fiji in their work to cite it in their publications, since funding is driven by citations. Fiji collaborates with partnered projects including ImageJ, ImageJ2, µManager, KNIME, Bio-Formats, and OME.
