About
Find Any File is a macOS app for searching for files on your disks. It can find files that Spotlight doesn't, such as those on network (NAS) and external volumes, hidden files inside bundles and packages, and files in folders usually excluded from Spotlight, like System and Library. Its root search mode can also search other users' folders. You can search precisely by properties such as name, extension, date range, size, and kind.
Find Any File complements Spotlight rather than replacing it. Its content search finds text in plain text files, zip files (including Word and Excel files), and most binary files. Spotlight results can also be included to find text in PDFs that Spotlight has indexed. It isn't the best tool for extended attributes and metadata such as image sizes, EXIF data, or GPS coordinates.
Results can be shown in folder and icon views, and searches can be saved and reused, launched with a custom keyboard shortcut, or integrated with Alfred, Keyboard Maestro, and PopClip. Found results can be copied or saved as a text file of paths. Find Any File is shareware: you can download it from the developer's website to try it, and you're expected to pay (6 USD) if you keep using it.
