About
FineTune is a free, open-source macOS menu bar app that lets you control the volume of every app independently. You can boost quiet apps up to 4x, pin apps to keep them visible in the menu bar, or ignore specific apps so they return to normal macOS audio. Global hotkeys, scroll-wheel adjustment, and keyboard navigation of the popup are also supported.
FineTune also handles audio routing. You can send multiple devices' output at once, route different apps to different outputs or follow the system default, and set a device priority so FineTune switches to a preferred device when it connects. Apps return to a reconnected device with their volume, routing, and EQ settings intact.
For sound shaping, FineTune includes a 10-band EQ with 20 presets and support for user EQ presets saved per app. It also offers AutoEQ headphone correction, where you can search headphone profiles or import your own ParametricEQ.txt files, along with loudness compensation at low volumes. FineTune is installable through Homebrew or as a manual download, and is an alternative to SoundSource.
