About
FiveNotes 3: Quick Notes is a native macOS app built around five quickly accessible notes. The notes can float over other windows, including apps in full-screen mode, and you can pin the window, resize it, move it anywhere on screen, or set it to appear near your mouse cursor. You can also drag text onto a dot or onto the menubar icon to add it to a note, and format notes with Markdown and a selection of themes.
The app offers iCloud synchronization across devices, automatic backups, and integration with other apps through Apple Shortcuts, AppleScript, and a URL-based API. FiveNotes requires macOS 13 or newer. It is sold as a one-time purchase for the current major version at $7.99, with free minor updates and a 30-day free trial, and a student discount is available through the Students App Centre.
According to the website, FiveNotes is private by design: notes are stored locally and synced through the user's private iCloud account, and the developer does not collect personal data or usage analytics. FiveNotes Mobile for iPhone and iPad is sold separately.
