About
Flit is a local dictation app for Mac. Hold a key, speak, and let go, and finished text that fits the current thread is typed into any app, including Chrome and Electron apps. The company says dictation never leaves your Mac, the app runs on Apple silicon, and it supports over 1,600 languages. Flit also cleans up speech before the text lands: fillers and false starts are removed, numbers, dates, prices, emails and URLs are formatted, and "scratch that" keeps only the correction. Output can match the app you are in, such as casual in Messages, professional in Mail, or verbatim in Terminal.
Flit includes optional context reading (off by default, and password fields are never read), a personal dictionary that learns names and jargon with your confirmation, and voice editing of selected text. It can also turn spoken briefs into prompts for coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, and keep shell commands and file names exact. The site lists a version 1.7 release, a $19 price with a 7-day free trial, and a waitlist for Windows.
