About
FlowDown is a native AI agent app for Mac, built with Swift, that lets you switch between AI services, connect MCP tools, automate with Shortcuts, or run local models on your device. It works with any OpenAI-compatible API, including self-hosted models, and supports Ollama and MLX local deployment. The app runs on macOS 14 or later and supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
FlowDown is built around privacy. Your conversations and API credentials stay on your device, and data is stored locally or synced through your private iCloud. The developers state that they collect nothing. Conversations, settings, and custom models sync across your Apple devices via iCloud.
For everyday use, FlowDown supports vision-capable models, audio attachments for compatible models, file attachments, web search for real-time information, and reusable prompt templates. It offers deep integration with system Shortcuts and renders Markdown with syntax highlighting. FlowDown is fully open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, so its code can be inspected.
