FontCreator is a font editor for Windows and macOS that lets you create, refine, and export OpenType, TrueType, and responsive variable fonts. Its standout capability is modifying an existing font while preserving its full OpenType layout feature data, including substitutions, positioning rules, lookup flags, and feature parameters, so you can refine glyphs, adjust metrics and kerning, or extend coverage without re-authoring the typography. The editor offers a WYSIWYG environment with real-time proofing, an OpenType Designer for glyph substitution and positioning features, kerning tools, and real-time font validation. It also supports importing vector and raster images, creating scalable color fonts (COLR and SVG), and defining axes and masters for variable fonts. FontCreator supports .glyphs, UFO, and designspace formats for exchanging projects with other software, and exports to OpenType, TrueType, WOFF, and WOFF2.
