About
FontGoggles is a free, open-source font viewer for macOS that supports .ttf/.otf fonts (including variable and COLR/CPAL color fonts), .ttc/.otc, .woff/.woff2, .ufo/.ufoz, .designspace, and .ttx files. Its main focus is text behavior, specifically text shaping and variation behavior. Homebrew users can install it with brew install --cask fontgoggles.
FontGoggles lets you view multiple fonts simultaneously and does proper text shaping with HarfBuzz for complex scripts. You can enable or disable OpenType features, explore design spaces, and preview .ufo and .designspace files as if they were compiled fonts. Fonts reload automatically when changed on disk, and the app supports vertical text layout.
To get started, drop fonts or folders of fonts onto the application or its window, then type text to change the displayed sample. You can zoom with trackpad pinch gestures, ⌘-plus and ⌘-minus, or option-scroll, and rearrange fonts by dragging them. Character and Glyph lists show Unicode values, glyph names, advance values, and positioning information for a selected font.
