About
ForkLift 4 is a dual pane file manager and file transfer client for macOS. It connects to many remote services, including SFTP, FTP, WebDav, Amazon S3, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SMB, and NFS, and lets you work with several servers at once, even copying between them by drag and drop. Its Sync feature compares local or remote folders, identifies matching, modified, new, and deleted files, and can synchronize them one- or two-way with a single click. The website states this analysis runs up to 20x faster than ForkLift 3.
For everyday file work, ForkLift offers a preview panel for playing audio and video and inspecting images and PDFs, plus quick editing of text files on local drives and remote servers. Activity View shows copying, renaming, deleting, and compressing tasks in real time, and Log View records file management activities and their results. Tools such as Quick Open, Tags, Search with filters, Tabs, Workspaces, and Keyboard Control help you find and organize files quickly.
ForkLift also includes Git support that shows the status of individual files and lets you add, commit, push, and pull. It can open Terminal, iTerm, Hyper, Kitty, Warp, or Ghostty at your current path, browse archives as folders, and sync favorites across computers via iCloud. ForkLift 4 is available to try for free or to buy, and it requires macOS 14.6.
