About
FreeShow is an open-source presentation app built by a non-profit that exists to serve churches. It is free of charge, and the website says it is supported by donors. Its stated mission is to reduce what churches spend on software so more funds can go to the church's mission.
FreeShow offers editing tools that let users change text font, size, and color, and add outlines and shadows. Edit mode allows live text changes during a presentation. Slides can be set to advance automatically with timers, and built-in countdowns can tell a congregation when a service will start. MIDI commands can advance slides or trigger lighting and other changes. Scripture passages can be looked up and turned into slides with one click, and lyrics can be generated by entering a song title and searching.
For output, FreeShow can show the same presentation with different looks for in-person, online, and stage audiences. A web output lets people connect from mobile devices, and NDI output is supported. A remote control feature lets a pastor or worship minister operate the show from a mobile device. Users can also import presentations from PowerPoint, ProPresenter, EasyWorship, OpenSong, and other platforms, export content in multiple formats, and use cloud sync so multiple people can work on presentations from different computers.
