FSNotes

About

FSNotes is a native notes app for Mac built around files you control. It writes in GitHub Flavored Markdown, handles collections of thousands of notes, and keeps working without an internet connection. Your notes are plain Markdown files that you can open with FSNotes, a text editor, or any other Markdown app. There is no mandatory account, cloud service, or subscription, and no proprietary database.

FSNotes is built for speed and keyboard use, with instant search and smooth performance across 10,000+ files. You can link notes with [[wiki links]], organize them with tags, and keep your existing folder structure. Code blocks get syntax highlighting for over 30 programming languages, and the app supports inline images, Mermaid, MathJax, pinned notes, and dark mode. Notes can be synced with iCloud Drive, versioned and backed up with optional Git integration, and protected with AES-256 encryption unlocked by Touch ID.

FSNotes is open source, with its source code available free on GitHub. The Mac app is available from the App Store with automatic updates for a one-time purchase, with no subscription. The project has been developed in the open since 2017.
