About
Gander turns the Quick Look preview in Finder into a viewer for the files developers open every day. It renders Markdown with Mermaid diagrams, shows JSON, CSV, SQL, SQLite, Jupyter notebooks, logs, .env files and code in 30 languages, all without opening an editor or switching apps. Previews follow your Mac's light or dark appearance, and each preview has a copy button for what it shows.
Markdown files display the way GitHub shows README files, with tables, task lists, math, footnotes, GitHub alerts and diagrams, and you can export them to PDF, Word, RTF or HTML. Delimited files like CSV open as a spreadsheet grid and can be converted to Excel (.xlsx) in one click, which is included in the price. Jupyter notebooks show their Markdown cells, colored code and cell outputs, including charts, without needing Jupyter or Python installed.
Gander requires macOS 15 or later and is available on the Mac App Store. It is made by 65FN LLC and is offered in English, Español, Deutsch, Français, 日本語, 简体中文 and Português (Brasil).
What's new
All release notes• CSV and TSV files as a real table: header, row numbers, numbers on the right, and any separator or encoding Excel writes, including decimal commas. • Export to Excel: turn a CSV or TSV file into an .xlsx workbook with numbers and dates as values, a frozen header with filters, and codes such as 007 kept as written. In Finder, right-click a CSV file and choose Services › Convert to Excel with Gander, or use the new Shortcuts action. • Jupyter notebooks: text, code, tables, charts and errors, plus the code as one script. • Log files open at the newest line, with errors and warnings colored and a Warnings & errors filter. • Much bigger previews: up to 1 MB of code, JSON, YAML or XML before a file is cut (it was 32 KB), and more rows for CSV, SQLite and folders. • Markdown quotes look like GitHub's: alerts (Note, Tip, Warning…) as colored boxes and plain quotes with a gray bar, in Light and Dark Mode. • Gander now speaks Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese.
