About
Gargoyle is an interactive fiction player that supports all the major IF formats. Rather than requiring a separate interpreter for each game format, it bundles standard interpreters for formats including AdvSys, Agility, Alan, Bocfel, Glulxe, Hugo, Level 9, Magnetic Scrolls, Scott Adams, TADS 2 and 3, and TaylorMade. Gargoyle is free software released under the GNU General Public License.
Gargoyle places a strong emphasis on typography. Its features include subpixel font rendering for LCD screens, unhinted anti-aliased fonts, adjustable gamma correction, kerning, smart quotes, and ligatures, along with generous margins, line spacing, and integrated scrollback. It ships with the Charis SIL and Go Mono fonts, and can use any TrueType, OpenType, or PostScript font you specify.
Gargoyle is configured through a text file rather than a graphical settings tool. On Mac, pressing Command+, while playing a game opens the configuration file in a text editor, and Command+period shows the list of configuration file locations. The configuration file includes extensive built-in documentation.
