About
GeoLibre is a free and open-source, lightweight, cloud-native GIS platform for visualizing, exploring, and analyzing geospatial data. It runs in the web browser, on the desktop, on mobile, and inside Jupyter notebooks, while keeping your data local and private. The app is built with Tauri, React, TypeScript, MapLibre GL JS, DuckDB-WASM Spatial, and deck.gl.
Its feature set includes a MapLibre map workspace with on-map tools, support for local and remote vector and raster data with attribute tables and multiple export formats, and layer styling with several renderers. It also offers 1,000+ geoprocessing tools from the Whitebox toolbox, a SQL Workspace for DuckDB Spatial queries, a plugin system with a marketplace, and a Python and R interface for building maps in Jupyter, RStudio, Quarto, and Shiny. An AI Assistant, real-time collaboration, and story map export are also described.
GeoLibre Web provides the full browser version with nothing to install. Desktop builds are available through the site's download page, and the documentation includes a User Guide and Tutorials for getting started.
