About
GeoTag is a free macOS app for adding or fine-tuning the location information in your photos. Pan and zoom a map window, then click the spot where a photo was taken to update its geolocation metadata.
GeoTag uses Phil Harvey's ExifTool to write changes to image files. Because ExifTool modifies metadata without altering the image data, geolocation can be edited an unlimited number of times with no image degradation. GeoTag can also update locations for images in your Photos Library, using Apple's Photos framework instead of ExifTool. The original image file is not changed in that case.
GeoTag 6.0 requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later. It is available from the Mac App Store or as a download from snafu.org, and it is compiled for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Users on earlier versions of macOS can use GeoTag 4.15.
