About
Geph is a VPN built from the ground up to resist ISP-level censorship. Its architecture and protocols are designed to be nearly invisible to ISPs and network adversaries, and the developers report connecting millions of users behind strict national firewalls over the past seven years, including despite targeted attacks from censorship systems in China and Iran.
Geph uses a blind signature authentication system, which lets users prove they hold a valid Plus or Free subscription without revealing their identity. The developers say this means servers cannot associate browsing activity with users, even if a server is fully compromised. Connections use a two-hop design in which users reach exit nodes through bridge relays, and a bootstrap protocol assigns and rotates bridges across users to make them hard to enumerate and block.
The project is open source, including its website, and is community-funded through Plus subscriptions. The developers acknowledge that Geph is currently centralized and say they are working toward full protocol decentralization through integration with Earendil.
