About
Gephi is a free, open-source desktop application for visual network analysis, built and maintained by a community of contributors. It handles complex networks of ten to ten million nodes and offers built-in algorithms for community detection, centrality measures, and clustering analysis. Users can draw a network like a picture or use a spreadsheet interface to manipulate data columns, search and transform data, import multiple formats, and filter networks interactively.
Gephi provides rich network visualization based on layout algorithms such as Force Atlas 2, Fruchterman-Reingold, and OpenOrd, with customizable node and edge styling driven by data attributes. Visualizations can be exported as high-resolution PNG, PDF, and SVG files for presentations and publications. The project has been widely used in academic research across fields from sociology to biology, and its founding paper has been cited by more than 10,000 peer-reviewed publications.
