About
GitComet is an open source Git GUI for macOS, built for teams that want fast Git operations, local-first privacy, and familiar workflows. It is built end-to-end in Rust using smol, gix, and gpui. Your repositories stay on your machine, with no account, no sync, and no upload. It is free for personal and commercial use under the AGPL-3.0.
GitComet lets you stage by file, by hunk, or by single line directly from the diff gutter, so each commit contains only the change you intended. Its built-in Difftastic engine compares code structure and highlights changed tokens, with split and inline views available and nothing extra to install. The interactive rebase editor lets you reorder commits by dragging them, pick, reword, squash, fixup, or drop them, and preview a squashed message before committing to it.
To install on macOS, run `brew install --cask gitcomet` with Homebrew, or download the disk image from GitHub, drag GitComet to your Applications folder, and launch it from there. Troubleshooting details are in the macOS installation docs.
