About
GitUp lets you see your entire repository clearly. Its Live Map reflects any change immediately, including changes made outside GitUp, with no refreshing or waiting. Highlight a commit and press the spacebar to view its message and diff. You can search branches, tags, and every commit by message, author, or diff content, and jump to results instantly.
Mistakes are easy to reverse. GitUp gives you full, transparent control over your local checkout, and cmd-z undoes your latest changes. Its Snapshot feature builds a Time-Machine-like history of every change to your repo, so you can step back to any point in time. GitUp also supports rewriting, splitting, deleting, and reordering commits, along with fixup, squash, cherry-pick, merge, and rebase, all accessible through quick keystrokes.
GitUp bypasses the Git binary and works directly with the repo database, which the website says makes it more reliable than other Git clients and often faster than the command line. It loads and renders the entire 40,000-commit graph of the official Git repo in under a second. GitUp is free and open-source, includes GitUpKit for building your own Git apps, and requires macOS 12.4 or later. Its Live Map, clutter-free UI, and Undo and Snapshot features also make it a good learning environment for Git newcomers.
