About
GitX is a native graphical client for the git version control system on OS X (macOS). It is described as a lightweight, visual git client for macOS. The project has a long history of branches and versions maintained by different people, and this repository is an attempt to consolidate them into a current, community-maintained version.
GitX can be installed with Homebrew using `brew install --cask gitx`, which also puts the gitx command-line tool on your PATH. You can also download the latest release from the Releases page, extract it, and move it to your Applications folder. Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2) should use the arm64 release.
GitX reads and writes SHA-1 repositories using either the traditional files reference backend or reftable, including bare repositories and linked worktrees. SHA-256 repositories are not supported. For command-line operations, select Git 2.45 or newer in Preferences. GitX is licensed under the GPL version 2.
