About
Handy is a free, open source speech-to-text app that runs on your own computer. Press a keyboard shortcut, speak, and release, and Handy pastes what you said into the text field you're typing in. Push-to-talk is enabled by default, but you can turn it off so transcription starts when you press the key combination and stops when you press it again. You can also change the key binding. A menu bar icon shows when transcription is active.
Handy keeps your voice on your computer, so you get transcriptions without sending audio to the cloud. It is designed to do one job: transcribe what you say and put it into a text box.
Handy is open source, so you can extend it for yourself and contribute to the project. It is supported by sponsors and donations, and you can also support it through GitHub Sponsors or by contacting contact@handy.computer.
