About
BrewUI is Homebrew's official macOS graphical interface, built as a native SwiftUI app for people who prefer graphical interfaces over Terminal. It lets users discover, install, update, and manage Homebrew packages, and it is designed to show what Homebrew is doing rather than hide it. The app gets its data from the brew CLI and the Homebrew JSON API.
BrewUI is installed with the command brew install --cask homebrew-app. Homebrew options are set in a brew.env file, and the app must be relaunched after those settings change. Shell aliases and exported variables do not configure the app.
The project is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license and is written in Swift with strict concurrency, using Swift Package Manager. Translations are community-sourced, and any string without a translation falls back to English.
