About
HyperWhisper is a Mac app for dictating text into any app. You press your shortcut, speak as you normally would, and press again to get cleaned-up text pasted where your cursor is. The website lists Slack, Cursor, Notion, Gmail, Claude, and Figma among the apps it works with. Features include custom vocabulary for names, acronyms, and special terms; real-time streaming so words appear as you speak; support for over 100 languages with automatic language detection; and file import for audio or video transcription. Modes rewrite your speech for its destination, including Email, Note, Code, Meeting, Legal, and Medical formats.
HyperWhisper can run entirely offline using local AI models, and the website says local mode keeps your data on your device. It also offers optional cloud transcription through providers the site names, either by bringing your own API keys or by using HyperWhisper Cloud Credits, a pay-as-you-go option with no API keys to manage. The app is open source under the Apache-2.0 license, and the website describes it as free forever with no subscription. It requires macOS 14.6 or later.
