About
ICE Buddy for your Menu Bar shows you the key information about your current train journey directly in the menu bar of your Mac. It displays your ICE connection, current speed (which can be pinned to the menu bar), and ICE type, along with a live timetable covering stops, delays, and platform changes. To use it, you simply connect to the WiFionICE or WiFi@DB network on your train.
The app also shows your entire route on a map, including all stations, delays, and platform changes. An exit alarm reminds you to get off in time before reaching your destination, using real-time information that takes the current delay into account. It supports all available ICE model series and automatically updates the banner and train name in the app.
ICE Buddy is free to download and is open source, with its code available on GitHub for anyone who wants to improve it or add support for more trains. The website also mentions an iPhone app, for which you can sign up for a mailing list.
