About
Infinite Family Tree Explorer is a macOS app for exploring, analyzing, and printing ascending or descending family tree charts. It is designed as a companion to existing genealogy data: you import a GEDCOM export from your favorite genealogy software or website, and the app displays it. It does not create or modify a database. Its layout is meant to fit many generations compactly, so that trees with hundreds or thousands of people can be printed on a few pages, with dates, places, events, notes, siblings, and remarriages included for each person.
The app offers filters that color-flag people according to flexible criteria, such as country or region of origin, number of children, or age at death of parents. It also includes an integrated timeline that positions each person by birth year and can mark events such as marriages and the birth of children. Implex branches, where distant relatives have married, are detected automatically and collapsed, with a dotted line pointing to the remaining branch. Users can also collapse branches to focus on specific individuals and highlight the path between selected relatives.
The app is free to download, with an optional in-app purchase. It supports English, French, and German, requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, and comes with sample PDFs and user manuals. Charts can be browsed, printed, or exported as PDF. According to the website, the app does not collect or process personal data, except an email address if the user registers a purchase.
