Itsytv

About

Itsytv is a remote app for Apple TV that runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It includes a launcher for browsing and reordering the apps installed on your Apple TV, and it can be placed on the left or right side of the screen and moved vertically to suit your thumb. When something is playing, Itsytv pulls in artwork, plot, rating, genre, and cast, and you can tap through for full credits with photos. It also manages multiple Apple TVs, switches between them in a tap, and reconnects automatically to the one you used last.

On iPad, Itsytv shows two panels side by side, with the app launcher or remote on one side and the What's playing details on the other. The layout changes in portrait mode to a one-handed grip, and the panels can be swapped for left- or right-handed use. On Mac, Itsytv lives in the menu bar, where you can type into Apple TV search fields from your keyboard and control playback without switching apps. The Mac version is available with Homebrew via brew install --cask itsytv.

Itsytv is a single universal purchase with no subscription, and the website describes the Mac edition as free and open source. The source code is on GitHub.
