About
Jami is free/libre, end-to-end encrypted communication software that is available on macOS along with Linux, Android, AndroidTV, Windows, and iOS. Multiple devices can be linked to a Jami account, and no personal information is required to create one. Its features include instant messaging, audio and video calls, group chats, video conferences, and rendezvous points with no third-party hosting. You can also record audio and video messages, share your screen, stream media, and use a built-in extension platform for new features. Jami can additionally function as a SIP client.
Jami is completely peer-to-peer and does not require a server to relay data between users. All communications are end-to-end encrypted, using encryption with perfect forward secrecy. Because connections are direct, latency is reduced and transfer speeds are increased. Users on the same local network can also communicate with Jami even when they are disconnected from the internet.
Jami is a GNU project backed by the Free Software Foundation and licensed under GNU GPLv3 or later. According to its website, it has no advertising, imposes no restrictions on file size, speed, bandwidth, features, number of accounts, or storage, and is free to use.
