Jan is a free, open source Mac app that describes itself as your personal intelligence, letting you run any model your way. You can choose from open models or plug in your favorite online models, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, Mistral, Qwen, DeepSeek, and Gemma.

Jan's Memory feature is listed as coming soon. It is meant to carry your context and preferences forward so you don't have to repeat yourself.

Jan is built in public and developed with its community. It has over 6 million downloads, and its latest version, v0.8.8, is available on GitHub. You can also join the community on Discord or find its models on HuggingFace.
