About
Kdenlive (KDE Non-Linear Video Editor) is a free and open source video editor that works on Linux, Windows, macOS, and BSD. It is part of the KDE Community and is developed by a small, mostly volunteer team from around the world. The interface can be customized to fit your workflow.
Kdenlive covers the process from importing footage to final touches. It accepts almost any audio or video format, lets you review metadata, and can use proxies for smoother playback on low-end systems. Editing tools include a non-linear workflow, multicam and 3-point editing, nested sequences, markers, and automatic backups. The audio tools include mixers, built-in voiceover recording, and an audio spectrum display. Effects, keyframes, and transitions are available, along with color tools such as LUTs, color correction, and scopes including a histogram, vectorscope, RGB parade, and waveform.
For titles and captions, Kdenlive offers automatic transcription, subtitle styling, and simple title clips. It can also connect to Glaxnimate for more complex motion graphics. A user manual and roadmap are available on the website.
