About
KCC (Kindle Comic Converter) is a comic and manga converter for ebook readers. It optimizes black-and-white or color comics for E-ink devices such as Kindle, Kobo, and reMarkable, displaying pages fullscreen without extra margins. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, accepts JPG/PNG image folders, CBZ/EPUB archives, and PDFs as input, and can output MOBI/AZW3, EPUB, KEPUB, CBZ, PDF, or folders of images.
The app's main goal is maximum image quality at a significantly smaller file size. It does this mainly by downscaling to the native resolution of your device, which the website says can also improve battery life, page turn speed, and performance on underpowered ereaders. The site gives the example of compressing a 600 MB manga volume to about 100 MB. Additional described features include fixing gray or faded blacks, reducing the rainbow effect on Kaleido 3 color E-ink screens, and semi-automatically detecting two-page spreads from pre-split pages.
To use it, you drop input files into the KCC window, click convert, and copy the output to your device's documents folder over USB. The site notes that KCC is not made by or endorsed by Amazon and is intended for comic and manga readers rather than publishers.
