About
Kiro Crew is an open-source personal AI agent that runs locally or remotely on your hardware. The macOS desktop app is distributed as a signed .dmg and starts a bundled Gateway when no local Gateway is already running. It can also connect to a remote Gateway over an SSH tunnel. You can work with Crew from the desktop app, the web dashboard, the CLI, or channels such as Slack, Discord, Telegram, Teams, Webex, WeCom, and WeChat.
Crew is designed to keep working without someone at the terminal. Its sessions, memory, schedules, and task checkpoints persist across chats and Gateway restarts. Multi-step tasks can run unattended, recurring jobs run on a schedule, and heartbeats monitor systems and alert you when something needs attention. Its Task Runner breaks a spec into steps, executes them, runs tests, retries on failure, and checkpoints progress. Crew can also spawn isolated subagents to handle parallel work and bring the results back into your conversation.
Crew learns from you over time. Corrections and task failures are saved as durable lessons that affect later behavior, and preferences and project context carry across sessions. Repeated patterns can become reusable skills. Memory, lessons, and skills stay visible and editable, so you can adjust how your Crew works.
