Bionic is LM Studio's agent for open models, built for creativity, work, and code. It is natively local. You can download the latest local LLMs directly within the app and use them for simple chats or advanced agentic tasks. It is powered by the LM Studio runtime, with MLX and llama.cpp under the hood.
Bionic can work with you to create and edit documents, and every change is automatically saved. It also excels at coding tasks, automations, and computer control. You can talk to Bionic naturally, and your speech is transcribed in real time. Your voice and audio data are processed locally and never leave your device, and multiple languages are supported.
For your most demanding tasks, you can run Bionic with the latest frontier open models, such as GLM 5.2, Kimi K3, and DeepSeek V4 Pro. Privacy is central to LM Studio, and its cloud services are Zero Data Retention (ZDR) across the board.
