LM Studio Bionic is LM Studio's agent for open models, built to be natively local and designed for creativity, work, and code. You can work with Bionic to create and edit documents, and every change is saved automatically. It also handles coding tasks, automations, and computer control, and you can ask it for help with anything you need done.

Bionic includes real-time voice transcription, so you can talk to it naturally and see your speech transcribed as you go. Your voice and audio data are processed locally and never leave your device, and the feature supports multiple languages. You can also download the latest local LLMs directly within the app and use them for simple chats or more advanced agentic tasks. It is powered by the LM Studio runtime, with MLX and llama.cpp under the hood.

For demanding tasks, you can run Bionic with frontier open models such as GLM 5.2, Kimi K3, and DeepSeek V4 Pro. LM Studio states that privacy is key to its ethos, and that its cloud services are Zero Data Retention (ZDR) across the board.
