About
LocalEditor is a Mac app that gives you a local workspace for notes, sketches and coding projects. You work in the same folders as your agents, so every file stays on your Mac and updates live as they write. You can open a whole folder as a project or open a single file directly from Finder, without importing anything.
Each file type gets a view suited to it. Markdown renders as a readable page, and you can write in it with slash commands. Config files such as .gitignore, .env and YAML get an editable view instead of raw syntax, and HTML files render live without a browser tab. Canvas lets you sketch flows and wireframes with shapes, connectors, a pencil and an eraser, then export them as PNG, JPEG, SVG or PDF. Press ⌘K to search across your open folders, and press ⌘1 or ⌘2 to quickly capture a note or a Canvas from anywhere.
LocalEditor connects to agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor through its built-in MCP helper. You choose whether an agent gets full access or only specific Projects and Scratchpads, and secret files always stay off-limits. You can also write the next instruction into a Scratchpad while your agent runs, then hand the file over.
