About
Lunar is an app for controlling external monitors on macOS. Its free features include DDC control, which sends commands such as setting brightness to 30% or switching input directly to the monitor, rather than adding a black overlay to the screen. Lunar also supports smooth transitions on Apple displays, lets your keyboard's brightness and volume keys control external monitors, and includes Sub-zero Dimming to go below the screen's 0% brightness limit. It is compatible with macOS 11 and later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel.
Pro features extend Lunar's control. Sync Mode mirrors your MacBook's adaptive brightness adjustments to all external monitors, XDR Brightness unlocks the full brightness of XDR displays, and Sensor Mode uses an external ambient light sensor to adapt monitor brightness and contrast, including on Mac Minis, closed-lid MacBooks, and Hackintoshes. Auto BlackOut turns off the MacBook display when an external monitor is connected, while BlackOut lets you selectively turn off displays with a hotkey. FaceLight turns your monitor into a bright, warm-white light for video calls, and Clock Mode adapts monitors on a schedule based on set times, sunrise, noon, or sunset.
Lunar offers a 14-day free trial for its Pro features. A Pro lifetime license is priced at $23.
