About
Mac Sai is an open-source cleaner, optimizer, and malware scanner for Mac, presented as a free, Apple-notarized alternative to CleanMyMac. It is built with Swift 6 and SwiftUI and is free forever, with no subscription, no in-app purchases, and zero telemetry. It is licensed under BSD-3, and you can install it with one command, `brew install --cask mac-sai`, or download the DMG.
The app bundles 22 modules across cleanup, protection, performance, applications, and disk insight, plus a menu-bar widget. Cleanup tools include Smart Scan, System Junk, Project Junk, Disk Hogs, and Clean History, which can restore a whole clean from the Trash in one click. Protection covers malware removal, which the site says is not an antivirus, along with privacy checks for browsers, browser extensions, and saved Wi-Fi. Other modules include an Uninstaller, Space Lens, Large & Old Files, Duplicates, and a Shredder.
Mac Sai emphasizes safety through Trash-first deletion, a protected-paths blocklist, and a SafetyGuard that validates every path. Because the code is fully open source, users can read it, and the signature is verified by macOS on every launch.
