About
MacDroid is a Mac app for transferring files between your Mac and an Android phone or tablet, whether you connect with a USB cable or wirelessly over Wi-Fi. It offers MTP, a simple and comprehensive way to connect Android and other supported devices, and ADB, an advanced mode for smoother, faster file transfer and management. The app is available for both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Once connected, you can access both the internal storage and external storage, such as SD cards, on your Android device. You can also edit files directly on your Android device from your Mac without copying them to the computer first. MacDroid supports a wide variety of file types, including documents, videos, music, and high-resolution camera photos. Your device can be opened in the Finder app for transferring and editing files.
Setup involves plugging in your device or enabling Developer options and USB debugging for a wireless connection, then adding your device in the app and following the on-screen instructions. The website also notes that the free version supports transferring files from Android to Mac, while the pro version supports transfers in both directions.
