About
Macs Fan Control lets you monitor and control fans on Apple computers. It provides real-time monitoring of fan speeds and temperature sensors, including third-party HDD/SSD sensors via S.M.A.R.T. It works on all Macs, both Intel and Apple Silicon, and is available for free for macOS and for Windows installed via Boot Camp, including on modern models with the T2 chip.
You can set a custom RPM value or set fan speed in relation to a temperature sensor, such as a third-party HDD. Each fan is either Auto, where the system controls it, or Custom, where the app controls it. Fan presets let you quickly switch between Auto and Custom modes depending on your activity. When Macs Fan Control quits, it restores all fans to Auto.
The app is designed to address overheating problems, such as those on a MacBook Pro, and noise problems, such as those caused by an iMac HDD replacement. Its interface uses two tables, one listing fans and one listing temperature sensors, and the menu bar can display fan speed and sensor temperature.
