About
macshot Offline is a native macOS screenshot and screen recording tool. Capture a region, window, scroll area, or full screen with a global hotkey (Cmd+Shift+X), then annotate with 19+ tools, including arrows, shapes, text, pencil, numbered markers, emoji, and censor tools. Its censor tool can pixelate, blur, fill, or smart-erase content, and it can auto-redact emails, phone numbers, credit cards, SSNs, and API keys. Screen recordings can be saved as MP4 or GIF, with a built-in editor for trimming and exporting.
macshot also includes OCR and translation, scroll capture that stitches long pages into one image, and one-click uploads to Google Drive, imgbb, or any S3-compatible service, with the link copied to your clipboard. It lives in the menu bar and is built with Swift and AppKit rather than a web browser. The interface is available in 40 languages and detects your system language automatically.
macshot is described as free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license, with no Electron and no subscription. It can be installed with Homebrew (brew install --cask macshot) or by downloading the .dmg from the Releases page.
