About
MacTools is a free, open-source collection of native macOS tools that live in the menu bar. You can build custom panels that mix live widgets, quick controls, and feature rows, drag them to rearrange, and move them between panels. Each panel can have its own icon. Themes can be chosen from built-in palettes or imported from iTerm2 and Base16/Base24, with separate light and dark themes, and the menu bar icon can be personalized with images or animations.
MacTools also includes automation. You can chain actions with delays and failure handling, and trigger workflows by schedule, calendar events, apps, power, displays, or network changes, then review their run history. A plugin marketplace offers plugins for productivity, displays, audio, cleanup, and monitoring, which you can install and update from Settings → Marketplace.
For quick access, the Command Palette searches actions, settings, workflows, and plugins. Press ⌘K inside MacTools or assign a global shortcut to open it anywhere. The Window Switcher offers Cycle, Direct Key, and Search Select modes for finding windows. MacTools requires macOS 14 or later, and some plugins need newer macOS versions or compatible hardware. It can be installed with Homebrew (brew install --cask mactools) or downloaded from GitHub Releases.
