About
macUSB is a native bootable USB creator for Mac that requires macOS 14.6 or newer. Select an image and a target drive, and macUSB automates drive preparation and image flashing, applying the optimal flashing method based on the source image format. It is built natively with Swift, without Electron or web wrappers, and is open source and free.
macUSB can download official macOS installers directly from Apple within the app, so you can skip third-party mirrors and track progress in real time. For Windows and Linux, drop in an ISO to verify its OS release, edition, and architecture before flashing. Oversized Windows .wim files are split automatically to fit FAT32 limits, but this requires the free wimlib package, which must be installed separately, such as with Homebrew.
macUSB also handles creating older macOS installers on Apple Silicon by automatically resolving validation errors caused by expired certificates. For Windows installations, it can skip strict Windows 11 hardware checks, remove the mandatory Microsoft account requirement, and disable automatic BitLocker encryption during flashing.
