About
MacVisor is a Mac app for running virtual machines natively on Apple Silicon. It supports macOS, Linux, Windows 11 (Tech Preview), and experimentally FreeBSD guests, with native VM management including snapshots, templates, flexible storage, advanced networking, guest tools, and CLI automation. It can be used as a desktop virtualization app, a headless hypervisor, or for CI automation.
The app offers macOS installers from Apple's catalogue or your own IPSW, along with ready-to-use Linux VMs from a catalogue of distribution cloud images (such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and Rocky), and any ARM64 distribution from its installer ISO. Features include instant, disk-only, and live snapshots, reusable templates, copy-on-write clones, custom networks, and named access to VMs. The app is also positioned for running AI agents in disposable Linux or macOS VM sandboxes, and for letting agents use VMs through MCP.
MacVisor requires macOS 27 for its 27 release, and some features depend on supported Apple Silicon hardware. It is available with a free 30-day trial, a one-time license at $59 per Mac or $79 for two Macs, and an enterprise option for 10+ Macs. The app is localized into 11 languages, while the mvz CLI remains in English.
