About
MailSteward is an e-mail manager for Apple macOS. With a single click on the Archive button, it stores copies of all your e-mail from your Apple Mail accounts, including full text, HTML, and attachments, in a relational database on your computer. You can also back up your Gmail account. Archived mail supports fast, multi-term searches and easy retrieval, and you can search by date range and keywords in the To, From, or Body fields. Other listed features include sorting, scheduled archiving, searching binary attachments such as Word and RTF files, exporting to several formats, and auto-tagging rules.
MailSteward comes in three versions. MailSteward Lite ($24.95) offers archiving and search with multiple mail accounts and an unlimited database size, but it cannot save frequent searches or export and merge databases. MailSteward ($49.95) adds those features along with others. MailSteward Pro ($99.95) has the same advanced features as MailSteward plus enterprise-scale performance, and it requires a MySQL database server, which is free to the user. The website says MailSteward can handle hundreds of thousands of messages, but Pro may be better for enterprise-scale accounts. The site also states that archive and search operations get a speed boost on Apple M-series CPUs.
A free version is available to try. It is full-featured but limited to 15,000 e-mails. The website also notes that MailSteward can help satisfy Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) requirements. Support and feature requests are handled at support@mailsteward.com.
