About
ManicTime is a time tracking app that runs silently in the background, automatically recording the apps, websites, and documents you use throughout the day. Instead of reconstructing your day from memory, you review the recorded activity and assign time to projects and clients, and auto-tagging rules can handle much of that work for you.
Once your time is tagged, ManicTime can generate timesheets, invoices, productivity reports, and attendance summaries from the same underlying data. The app also detects idle or away time and prompts you to classify it as a meeting, break, or other activity, and optional screenshots anchored to your timeline can serve as visual proof of work for billing. For hybrid teams, it can show whether time was spent in the office or remotely.
ManicTime is offered as a cloud or on-premises deployment, with options for REST API export, direct database access, and integration with AI tools via MCP. The website describes it as suited to roles such as developers, remote teams, lawyers, IT services, managers, freelancers, accountants, and designers.
