About
MarginNote is a learning workspace for connecting material from different sources. You can read PDFs, EPUBs, web pages and video, and excerpt text and images into cards that link back to the original source. Cards from different sources can be arranged into a mind map, with related ideas linked and your own notes and handwriting added.
For review, you can recall along a mind map or add cards to spaced repetition. Recall can cover the mind map and source, with hints given one step at a time, and long passages can be condensed first. MarginNote 5 adds scenario templates that show only the tools for the step you are on, such as reading, writing, organizing or recalling, with one tap to switch between them. Less-used tools sit under More, and you can return to the traditional interface at any time.
MarginNote also offers OCR for excerpts and AI for questions and organization, and the website advises checking results against the source. Some features require a paid plan, and AI services have additional conditions. The app is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
