About
MarsEdit is a desktop blog editor for macOS (requires macOS 10.15.4 or higher) that lets you write, preview, and publish your blog outside the browser. It offers plain text and rich text editing, with live Markdown syntax highlighting, Markdown preview, and conversion to HTML when needed. A Typewriter Mode keeps your text centered vertically, and full-screen support helps you focus.
MarsEdit also includes a Microposting feature, which uses a global keyboard shortcut to open a minimalist post editor. For WordPress, it supports featured images, post formats, multiple authors, and custom fields. You can browse Apple Photos, drag in images, or insert them with a click, and MarsEdit uploads them when you publish. An automatic preview template shows how posts will look on the web, and a Safari App Extension helps you create posts from pages you read.
MarsEdit works offline, so you can write without an internet connection and publish when you're back online. For most blog services, it can download your full history of published posts and pages for backup. It works with WordPress, Micro.blog, Tumblr, TypePad, Movable Type, and any blog that supports a standard MetaWeblog or AtomPub interface.
