Mattermost is a secure messaging and collaboration platform built for critical infrastructure, national security, and regulated enterprises. It offers searchable conversation history across channels, threads, and direct messages, with per-channel permissions and retention, plus workflow automation for repeatable playbooks such as incident response and compliance, with conditional checklists, SLA timers, and escalation. Sovereign AI agents can summarize and enrich alerts using a chosen LLM provider or a self-hosted model. Calls and screen sharing run on the organization's own calls server.

Mattermost can be deployed in sovereign public cloud, on-premises or private cloud, or fully air-gapped environments, so the organization keeps control of its data, models, and keys. Administration features include SAML, LDAP/AD, and SCIM provisioning, MFA, SIEM-ready audit logs, and eDiscovery export with legal hold. Classification controls, attribute-based access control, and timed message expiry are also available, along with federation across Mattermost servers and integrations via a REST API and webhooks.

The platform also includes project management boards for assigning and tracking tasks alongside the conversations about them. Mattermost is available on web, desktop, and mobile, and can be embedded inside Microsoft Teams.
