About
MediaInfo gives a convenient, unified display of the most relevant technical and tag data for video and audio files. Its data display covers container details such as format, duration, and overall bit rate; video details such as codec ID, frame rate, and color space; audio details such as sample rate, channels, and language; subtitle text tracks; and chapters. It can analyze many formats, including MPEG-4, QuickTime, Matroska, AVI, MXF, and H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, and AAC, FLAC, and other audio codecs.
You can view information as text, sheet, tree, or HTML, customize these viewing formats, and export the information as text, CSV, or HTML. MediaInfo is available as a graphical user interface, a command line interface, or a library, and it integrates with the shell through drag and drop and the context menu. macOS is among the listed download options, and MediaInfoOnline is available for testing the software without installing anything.
MediaInfo is open-source software under a BSD-style license, so end users and developers are free to study, improve, and redistribute it. The site also notes that localization volunteers are needed.
