About
Meta is a music tag editor for Mac that helps musicians, DJs, and music enthusiasts manage every aspect of a digital music collection. It saves time when you rip vinyls or download music from third-party stores. You can edit tags across multiple files at once by selecting them and using the sidebar as a shared workspace. Meta can search discogs.com to find missing track info and album covers, letting you filter by media type and choose which tags to import. Its artwork tools let you scale, crop, and compress images, and optimize newly imported pictures to keep file sizes small.
Meta also includes converters for renaming files, deriving tags from patterns, creating folders, and numbering tracks, along with find and replace for text and patterns. Its sidebar offers dedicated editors for complex tags such as multiline text, tempo, track length, and dates. You can create custom sidebar layouts for different tasks, and choose which metadata formats are written to your files, including several ID3v2 versions. Meta supports popular audio formats such as mp3, m4a, aiff, wav, flac, and ogg, and includes built-in support for the iTunes, Music, and Doppler libraries.
Meta requires macOS 12.0 or later and runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It is powered by TagLib, an open-source tag engine. A free 3-day trial is available, and the app is also sold on the Mac App Store.
