About
Micro.blog for Mac is a free, native app for macOS 14 Sonoma or later. When you first launch it, you sign in through your web browser. If you use a Micro.blog-hosted blog, you can start a new post from File → New Post. If you use WordPress or another server, you enter your website URL in the preferences window to set up posting in the app.
The app includes panes for Posts, Notes, Bookmarks, Categories, Uploads, and Bookshelves. Posts can be scheduled from a Scheduled tab and drafts save automatically when you write longer posts. You can attach recent photos from your Photos library, and a Dictate Note button records audio and transcribes it into a private note. Bookmarks for Micro.blog Premium subscribers are organized into Bookmarks, Highlights, and Links tabs, and the Bookshelves pane includes a Calendar tab that can be published as a page on your blog.
Recent updates have focused on the photo window, which now offers toolbar zoom controls, pinch-to-zoom, and drag-to-pan, along with improvements to launch speed, timeline loading, and upload progress. The app also includes an AI preference pane, where you can turn AI features on or off and, on Macs with lots of memory, use local AI for generating photo accessibility text and summarizing new bookmarks.
